Trent DiGiuro
1973-1994

Strong, Loyal, Kind
Trent DiGiuro, a native of Goshen, Kentucky, was no stranger to hard work. Although he played many sports in his younger years, football quickly became his passion. Trent earned all honors at South Oldham High School and enrolled as a walk-on offensive lineman in 1991 at the University of Kentucky. This is where his dedication to the game and his teammates really began to shine.
By his junior year, Trent’s hard work in both academics and football began to pay off. He was chosen for the 1993 SEC All Academic Team for his excellence in education, and earned playing time when the Wildcats advanced to the Peach Bowl. By the end of Spring Practice in 1994, Trent was the Kentucky Wildcats starting right guard.
This amazing accomplishment of starting for the University of Kentucky football team was never realized. A few days shy of his 21st birthday in the summer of 1994, Trent was shot and killed while sitting on his front porch with friends.
It is through many of those friends that his legacy of strength, loyalty, and kindness lives on in the Trent DiGiuro Foundation. More than 30 years after his death, he is still inspiring us to live and love in big ways. Trent may be physically gone, but his spirit lives on through his friends, family, and every recipient of the scholarships created in his honor.
